Cub Scouts Pack 185 - Valentine’s Day Cards making for the homebound and residents of area nursing homes. This is a private gathering however, all are invited to create Valentines for this project and drop off at the Stratham Town Offices. Please see below for details.

Thursday, January 19

Honoring MLK: In-person Book Discussion for Teens and Parents

Join other Stratham teens and parents in reading the new graphic novel "Victory. Stand!: Raising My Fist for Justice," by Tommie Smith, Derrick Barnes, and Dawud Anyabwile as part of our Honoring MLK series, leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 16th. We'll have a few copies of the book for folks to borrow, but patrons are also welcome to bring their own copy of this incredible graphic novel memoir. Registration is required. Snacks provided. We'll meet in the Teen Room!

Film Screening: KING IN THE WILDERNESS a 2018, HBO Documentary (1h 51m) free and open to the public at Wiggin Memorial Library. 3:00 p.m.

Saturday, January 21

The Stratham Community Church is hosting the Sacred Ally Quilts at the Church on Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This group of 10 quilts memorializing the final desperate words of George Floyd were the collaborative effort of nine United Church of Christ churches in New Hampshire. Open to the Public at Stratham Community Church, 6 Emery Lane. 10:00 AM – 4 PM

 

Saturday, January 21

Showing of the documentary “Stitch, Breathe, Speak: The George Floyd Quilts” (about the quilts, 17 minutes) on Saturday at 1PM with a conversation on race to follow. The documentary by New Hampshire filmmaker Chris Owen, chronicles the creation of these quilts. Open to the Public at Stratham Community Church, 6 Emery Lane. 1:00 pm. 

Sunday, January 22

Sacred Ally Quilts (see above) on Display. Open to the Public at Stratham Community Church, 6 Emery Lane. 12:00pm – 4:00pm. 

Also, all are invited to make a Valentine's Day Card for our homebound neighbors. Valentines from Stratham community members will be collected in a box at the Stratham Town Offices from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning January 17th through February 10th. Please put your Valentines in an envelope and leave blank, our volunteers will address them or deliver them to nursing facilities where they will be distributed (leave the outer envelope blank).
